The Night at Riva Ridge

On the night of February 18, 1945, a daring climb changed the course of the Italian campaign. Mountain troops ascended the supposedly impassable cliffs of Riva Ridge, achieving a strategic surprise that would break the Gothic Line.

“They said it was impossible to scale. We just brought our ropes and our will.”
